Survivor - Sahara
Episode 7 - Story - "Dunes Of Motion"

Previously on Survivor Sahara:

  • Justin was upset after Kristi was voted out of the Sahara, and then started worrying that he was next. Justin: "I don't feel safe in this tribe anymore. I could be next for all I know."
  • At the Immunity Challenge, which was held first, the tribes were asked riddles. Fulani once again won immunity for the fourth time in the game, giving them a majority if they merged. Angela: "We got the majority, we got the majority!"
  • After a sandstorm hit both camps hard, the teams rebuilt from the disaster.
  • And at the Reward Challenge, it was Tribe Fulani, who won the reward and got to spend the day in Ghat, Libya, eating good food and buying lots of clothes and jewelry.
  • At the last minute, Justin pulled some strings and saved himself at Tribal Council, but Heidi was not saved. Her torch as snuffed. SNUFF!
  • Ten remain in the Sahara. Find out who will be voted out tonight.

Day 19

"And then there were four," Justin said at the Tuareg camp as the sun was coming up. Justin talked about the previous night's vote. "I thought I was gone last night at Tribal Council, but my alliance stayed strong and here I am today. It's sad that Heidi thought I lied to her when I was telling her the truth about the vote. I just hope the others don't think I had been lying to her about other stuff."

The tribe claimed to be upset over Heidi's lost. "We'll miss her," Dennis said, but Jennifer said, "I'm so sad that Heidi is gone." And then she coughed. She added later, "The important thing is the four hardest workers are left."

"Well, gang we've lasted this far and now the real challenge begins," Justin stated. "We have to work and play much harder than before. But enough with the emotions. Let's get to work." He started to carry the water jugs over to the oasis and grab some extra firewood while he was there. He also wanted to help re-light the fire that had gone out at night.

Jennifer said as she was lying down, "I'm lying out in the sun suffering from dehydration. I could go for a margarita about right now." She had actually been making improvements in her health. She started feeling better and worked on chores at camp like cooking and boiling water for the day. She stated that she would do all of that while trying to stay out of the sun.

She also asked Eric to help her clean up firewood that spilled over. A fennec fox had sneaked into their camp and made a mess while they were at Tribal Council the night before. Jenni said that her tribe hadn't been doing chores for a couple of days. After Eric and Jenni had gathered all the firewood, they started to cook rice for their breakfast. Jennifer put the lid on the pot and sat down. She looked around and saw a fennec fox walking by outside the Tuareg camp. She shook her head at it.

Since it was Day 19, the members of Taureg were expecting to merge over the next day or two. Justin said in a confessional, "I'm really excited to get to meet the others and start some fierce competition."

The tribes received a treemail from Mr. Moderator that day. It read, "This is the part of the game where some changes are about to occur. Something big is about to happen. What I need for your tribe to do is pick one ambassador from your tribe. That ambassador will meet at Challenge Dunes for a special treat. So pick one member and send them packing ready for a meeting that will change the game!"

Justin said, "Big things are happening! I'm excited. I'm sure we'd all like to be the ambassador, or at least I know I would." Dennis took the liberty to nominate Justin for the Tuareg ambassador. Jennifer agreed and Eric said, "Yes, Justin is our final answer." So Justin took his pack and walked away from the Tuareg camp, not bothering to look back.

When Sahara and Angela brought the treemail back to camp, Sahara said, "It isn't unlikely that there could be a twist. I will just have to wait and see." However, she felt confident that the treemail referred to the merge and she said later, "I don't know if I necessarily think I want to trade teams, but I think new people could be exciting."

Fulani had a tougher time deciding who should be the ambassador. Angela said, "I will volunteer to go!" Ryan agreed that Angela should be the one to go, but then Sahara said that she wanted to do it. So they called a meeting at the Fulani camp.

Angela said, "Wade and I were talking about who to send as ambassador. We figured that it might be a good idea to just draw cards to be fair. The highest card wins." Sahara was surprised. "I thought you guys said I could do it." Ryan said, "I think everyone would like to do it." Angela talked about picking an ambassador for Fulani in a confessional later that day. She said, "I think that the job of the ambassador was perceived to be something fun and different, possibly a chance to get some inside information on the other tribe."

So they each drew a card out of the deck. Angela drew a 7 and Ryan drew a 4. Tim got a 6 and Jasmine got a 2. Wade drew a 7 and Sahara was the last to pick a card and she picked a 10. Angela said, "Sahara is duly elected our ambassador." Sahara replied, "Thanks guys. I will do you proud." Wade told Sahara not to pick a dumb tribe name and Angela said not to tell the other ambassador anything. Angela said, "We are in the driver's seat now anyway, and they will be super desperate to try anything."

Sahara stated that she hoped the other ambassador would be a boy, as she packed her stuff, preparing for the meeting. Angela and Fulani wished Sahara good luck and Sahara walked out of the camp towards Challenge Dunes. Angela said she was "a little worried about what Sahara will say and do. I wonder if she will spill the beans." Ryan was concerned about Sahara too. He wanted to know why she wanted to be an ambassador so badly. Angela said, "I will be disappointed if Sahara gets caught up in it all though. We don't need to chum up to anyone, and if she does, it will be a good measure of her loyalty to us."

Mr. Moderator greeted Sahara and Justin at Challenge Dunes and they sat down on a large blanket with pillows. The host said, "Welcome ambassadors. This meeting will be conducted just as the Arabs of the Sahara discuss certain matters at meetings. And as always, they demonstrate a matter of courtesy towards each other, but they also like to exaggerate about their cultures and life and nations and act as if their tribe was the best thing since sliced bread. But moving on..."

"Today, you will be making some very big decisions that will change the course of this game. But first, I don't want you to be making all these decisions on an empty stomach." As Mr. Moderator spoke, the crew appeared with plates of food and drink. "We have a feast for both of you. We have a variety of fruits, including apples, oranges, bananas, and dates. We also have salads with dressings made from Arab cookbooks. We have potatoes, bread pudding, whole wheat bread and even some rice, because I know you're not tired of that yet. And we also have some lamb and wild game for the main course. Try some of the delicacies."

Sahara's and Justin's jaws dropped at the site of the food. Then Mr. Moderator said, "It gets better. We have installed a shower so you can clean up after you eat. And after that, we have a tent setup for both of you. You will be spending the night here. There is one big king-sized bed with fresh pillows, and even some mints. We have some fans going back there, so it will be nice and cool."

"But after you've enjoyed your feast, you have a few things to prepare for. When you do come together, you'll need a new tribe name, a new tribe color, and a new tribe camp; you will either live at Ghat or Djanet. It's up to you. So make those decisions and after that, I have one more thing for you to do, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what it is. Okay, enjoy the feast and bed. And make some history tonight when you decide on those items I have mentioned. I'll leave you two to some peace and quiet." Mr. Moderator walked away.

Sahara and Justin clinked glasses of wine as they congratulated each other on being ambassadors. After their stomachs were full, Justin said, "Alright so we have stuff to do!" Sahara said, "Yes, like shower." She then proceeded to ask Justin if he would peek while she was in it. He said, "I probably wouldn't, just because I'd be respectful of your privacy." Then, they got down to real business.

"First up is our new tribe name," Sahara said. "Do you have any suggestions?" Justin had learned some tribe names of the Sahara like Dogon, Chaamba and Tibu. Sahara found two she liked: Habbanaya and Burkina. Justin said he liked Burkina and they both agreed on it as the new merge name. Next on the list was tribe color. Sahara asked what color Tuareg was and Justin said orange. Then Justin asked, "You were yellow, weren't you?" and Sahara said yes. Justin suggested green or purple and Sahara said, "I love purple!" and so it was decided.

Finally, they had to decide which camp they were going to live at: Ghat or Djanet. Sahara asked what Tuareg's camp was like. Justin said, "We're very organized and we have two shelters, firewood, a lake at our oasis, a good fire and the waterhole is far away, but not too bad of a walk." He also mentioned they had built a football field. Sahara was impressed and then described the Fulani camp. She said, "We have a shelter, and an oasis where we can swim and fish and cool off in the shade."

Then Sahara asked Justin if both of their shelters were big. Justin said they probably could hold ten people, which would be nice if the tribes lived together. Sahara and Justin asked how the weather was at each other's camps. Justin and Sahara both commented on the sandstorm and Justin said, "We've had some bad days and days when it hasn't been too bad." Justin said he was partial to his camp, and Sahara said that two shelters would be a plus. She said, "I say we go to Djanet." And so they made their final decision. Sahara said she took more charge at the ambassadors meeting than Justin and that "he was very easy going."

They wondered what the last thing they had to do for tomorrow was. Sahara said, "Oh well. Now we can just sit back, eat lots of food, shower and enjoy some cool fans. It looks like we have to share a bed." Justin said, "It's funny that we are the ambassadors and how we're about the same age." Sahara agreed.

The two then washed up using the outdoor shower and then sat in the tent and talked. Sahara asked how old Justin's tribemates were and Justin talked about his tribemates, but he didn't want to give too much information away. They were careful with what came out of their mouths. But they continued asking questions, trying to get some information.

Justin commented on the Ambassadors Meeting in a confessional. "Being the ambassador was definitely a cool experience. I got to eat a huge old feast, take a shower and sleep in a great bed. Not to mention I got to share it all with a really cool chick. I tried to get some inside info out of Sahara and she tried the same with me. We both worked at playing it safe and not revealing too much."

Sahara asked, "Who do you not like in your tribe?" Justin answered, "I like them all, but there are just certain things that bother me from time to time. What about you?" Sahara said her tribe was fine. Then they talked about their experiences at Tribal Councils. Justin said, "Ours weren't too bad except for the last two. That last one was pretty tense. I wasn't too sure if who I thought was going was actually getting voted out." Then Justin got on the topic of Fulani having a majority. He was worried about having Tuareg and Fulani join together with Fulani having six members and Tuareg having four.

Justin said, "Do you have anything else to talk about or are we just going to hit the sack?" Sahara said she couldn't think of anything else. Justin then said, "Well, I think that I'm going to bed then because I'm way tired." Sahara said, "I'm right behind you." As they lied in bed with the cool air from the fans, Justin said, "I'm ready to merge." Sahara said, "So am I."

Feast at Ambassadors Meeting

Day 20

Once the two ambassadors woke up, they were served breakfast with many foods to choose from. Sahara was so hungry, she ate so much and Justin had his fill as well. As they were finishing up, Mr. Moderator appeared and said that he had some news for them.

After he asked how breakfast was, he said, "Did you make some decisions last night?" Since their mouths were full, they nodded. "Good. So what did you decide?" Sahara and Justin told the host all about the new tribe name and color and camp. Mr. Moderator said, "Well, those sound like excellent decisions. I will make a note of them for when you do merge."

Justin and Sahara looked confused. The host continued, "I have some news for you two. If you noticed, I never actually said the word merge. I was very careful about that. You will merge into one team...eventually. But not today. Your decisions will be saved and you will use those for when the tribes merge. However, for you two, I wasn't very specific about your job descriptions when you signed up for this role. But here's the deal. You two have been chosen to switch tribes. Sahara is now on the Tuareg tribe and Justin is now on the Fulani tribe. You can switch buffs and when you're done with breakfast, I'll give you maps to your new homes. I'll see you later." He set down the maps and walked away. Sahara and Justin both looked at each other. They were speechless.

"It was a total and utter shock. A slap in the face! I could not believe it. It was completely unbelievable," said Sahara in a confessional. She hugged Justin and walked in the direction of the Tuareg camp with her pack and luxury item. She said as she walked along, "I just have to be completely pleasant and not ruffle any feathers because over here I am powerless. It is almost 100% guaranteed that I would go if Taureg lost the Immunity Challenge." Sahara said she would do whatever it took not to draw attention to herself. "And pray for immunity!" She still couldn't believe what had happened. "I was from the tribe that has won practically everything, and had more members. Why would they [Tuareg] not target me? I have worked too hard to be taken out now!"

As Justin made his way to Fulani, he talked about his first reaction when he found out he was switching tribes. "I thought that I was screwed. It's game over for Justin." He was in a state of confusion and shock and disbelief. He didn't know how Fulani would react.

While Angela was sitting down by the fire, she saw a person walking towards the camp. It didn't look like Sahara, however. She didn't know who it was. When Justin arrived at camp, Fulani wondered what he was doing there. Wade asked if the merge had occurred and Justin said, "No, Sahara and I planned the merge, but it's not happening yet. I'm on Fulani now and Sahara is on Tuareg."

All the members of Fulani came over to meet him. They were as shocked as Justin was. Justin said, "Hey y'all! Looks like you guys are stuck with me for a bit, but I'm ready to work alongside of y'all." Ryan welcomed Justin, as did Wade, but Wade was really surprised. Justin said, "Thanks a lot for the warm welcome!" Angela said, "Hey Justin! Welcome to Fulani! Hope you have fun here! As the new guy, we elect you to do all the chores for a day! Just kidding. Make that two days!" She laughed.

The camera crew asked Ryan for a confessional about his new member and the switch. Ryan was very surprised when he learned of the twist. "I was so shocked! I thought that we were going to merge." And as for his new tribemate, Justin, Ryan said, "I think he is nice, a little curious, but nice." Justin had been asking lots of questions about the Fulani tribe.

But after Justin had his share, Fulani asked him their own question. Wade asked Justin how the summit was and what they had decided. Justin said, "Well, the new tribe name is Burkina. Sahara picked it. I think it means gift or something." Wade said, "It's also a country." Justin replied, "Okay, well maybe it doesn't mean gift after all. But we also came up with a new tribe color. It's purple. And the merge camp will be at Tuareg."

After Ryan lost his old tribemate, Sahara, he said, "She wanted to go so bad, and she got it." He said that he thought the new tribe would bond just fine and as for tribal lines being in place, he said, "I think in some ways they will, but in other ways, no."

Justin talked to Wade as they started chores. He said, "I heard Sahara was the boy crazy one over here." They laughed and Justin continued, "She's hysterical though, and I had fun doing the merge stuff with her." Wade said, "Some people think she's ditzy and stupid, but she's not." Justin wondered how she was handling his old tribe at Tuareg.

Sahara had followed the map to Djanet. It was a long walk, but when she arrived at Tuareg, Dennis was surprised to see her. He said, "What are you doing here?" Sahara explained what had happened and Dennis, Eric and Jennifer all had shocked expressions on their faces, but they were nevertheless glad to have her. Sahara asked Taureg, "So were you guys as surprised as I was?" They said the switch definitely shocked them. Dennis said, "Welcome Sahara, it's nice to have you over here." Jennifer said, "Welcome Sahara! Glad to have another girl here! The boys just don't get it sometimes." The girls laughed and Sahara said she totally understood what Jennifer meant.

Dennis turned to Eric and said, "Eric, what about throwing a song for Sahara?" Eric did and Sahara said, "That was very sweet. Thank you very much everyone for the warm welcome. Anyone want to give me a tour of our camp?" Dennis said, "The bathroom is around the bushes." Tuareg was already laughing and bonding. Sahara said, "It's great to be over here...is there anything to eat?" Dennis said, "I caught this gigantic fish the other day and there is some left over. It's still delicious. You can have it."

As they sat down and ate fish, Sahara told her team that she hoped they knew she was happy to be on Tuareg. "It's just a little scary being the new girl." Dennis said he understood and felt for Justin, but said, "We are happy to have you here, Sahara." Dennis added that he hoped they could pull off a win at the Immunity Challenge. Sahara said, "Me too, for obvious reasons." Dennis hoped that the four of them would make the merge. He wanted the new tribe to stick together. Sahara was starting to like her new surroundings and confessed, "This switch may have been a really good thing after all."

Dennis talked about the twist in a confessional. "I liked it. I didn't mind seeing Justin gone and Sahara coming over here was good." He said Tuareg would bond just fine with their new tribemate. And when Dennis was asked, "Do old tribal lines still exist?" he answered, "They are thrown out the window as far as I know."

Dennis asked Sahara if Fulani was going to 'pagong' Tuareg if they merged. Sahara said her team hadn't talked about that yet. They talked about each other's families and old tribemates, and shared old stories about the past 20 days. Dennis mentioned his wife in a conversation and Sahara said, "Your married? I had no idea." Dennis said, "Yea. Five years almost." Dennis then geared the conversation towards past challenges. "At one point we thought that we were going to lose all challenges, but luckily we won two Immunity Challenges."

Dennis asked who the nicest person on Fulani was and Sahara answered herself and laughed. But she talked only the best about her former tribemates. Dennis talked about the former Tuareg tribemates that were voted out at previous Tribal Councils. He told Sahara how Kristi rubbed him the wrong way. "I masterminded her exit. Heidi was the next to go but Kristi did the honors first."

Sahara talked about the old days at Fulani and was asked how she got along with her tribe. She said that not much fighting went on at Fulani. Dennis made a comment about Fulani when Sahara talked about the subject. He said, "Survivor has taught me that in any tribe there is a hierarchy. I am sure that there is one or two people in your tribe thinking that they are running the tribe and they will make it all the way."

Back at Fulani, Justin was trying to fit in with his new tribe. Justin asked the tribe, "So what are things like here?" Wade answered, "Everything's pretty relaxed." Justin then shared stories about Tuareg. He told Wade and Tim, "We worked a lot. We have two shelters and lots of other stuff, and we played a lot too. We swam, played football, and we sang. It was a lot of fun, except for losing a lot." Justin then got right down to work. He asked, "You, Angela, and Ryan do most of the work and stuff right?" Wade said yes.

Justin said he'd start working, "so we're not dying out here. I'm going to take the map and get some water. Do you all have somewhere to fish out here or what do you usually do for food?" Tim and Wade offered to help Justin and walked with him to show Justin where the oasis was. Wade said, "We usually go to the oasis for everything. I'll go get water with you too, Justin and get some food while I'm at it. When we get back I'll tend to the fire."

Tim helped Wade pick wild berries and dates at the oasis, while Justin filled up the water canteens and an extra jug. While putting the cap on the jug, he asked Wade if anybody was sneaky or conniving at Fulani. Wade said, "No one is really sneaky here. Well, they might be, but if they are, I don't know about it." He laughed. Justin asked about Angela and Wade described Angela as a "competitive-mother-like person."

The three boys came back to work at camp while Ryan and Jasmine worked together finding food at the oasis later in the day. The two of them came back and watched the fire. Angela was taking a nap in the shelter. She was exhausted from the heat and all the commotion.

Justin hoped to become good friends with Ryan because they were the same age and had some things in common. He also thought Wade was a good friend and seemed honest and decent. "Ryan is close to my age, so that helps bring some commonality into the picture. Wade seems flexible with his tribe. He thinks there are people who need to go before me, so that earns him some brownie points." Justin said Fulani was making an effort to talk to him and he liked that about them.

However, Ryan kept to himself and talked only here and there to Justin. Plus Ryan said in a confessional that he wanted to vote for Justin. He said he was a good player, but his vote was necessary "in order to keep a majority for the merge."

Justin pulled Wade aside as they were cooking rice together. Justin was asking all about Wade and what he was like. Wade described himself as "kind of competitive, but I usually don't think everything through." Justin said he was "the one who makes friends with everyone and quite often gets screwed because of it."

The conversation then turned to voting and strategy. From the moment Justin arrived at Fulani, he knew his fate was doomed. Justin wanted to approach the subject delicately, but then decided to be straight forward and honest with Wade since Wade had done the same with him. "Listen," Justin said, "if it's possible to get rid of someone else in the tribe other than me, it'd mean a whole lot to me. I've worked really hard to get this far and this hand being dealt to me was rough."

Wade said he would consider it, but wanted to know that when the merge came, would Justin go back and align with his old Tuareg mates? Justin didn't say anything. Wade continued, "I'd definitely consider voting out Jasmine before you. But I'm not guaranteeing you anything until I talk to the rest of the tribe. I'll try and save your butt, but you have to promise you won't screw me over in the process." He told Justin not to act too desperate. "Help out around camp, and try and be friendly to everyone, without it seeming like you're sucking up."

As for tribal lines, Justin said, "Those are hard to get rid of. If you spend a lot of time with a group of people, they mean more to you than someone you just met." He then went on to talk about the Immunity Challenge. "I want Fulani to win immunity so I'm safe, but I also don't want to see a member of Tuareg go. It's a difficult position to be in. I'm just reminding myself that the person I need to watch out for the most is myself."

Eric was pleased there was no merge. It was also interesting to have a new tribe member around the camp because Eric saw Sahara as a chance to get information. Eric approached her with his game face on and asked whom she would like to get rid of at the merge. Sahara kept a low profile and didn't answer Eric's questions. In a confessional, Eric stated his first impression of Sahara. "She's really nice, but she has to go."

Night Landscape

That night while Dennis and Eric watched the fire together, Dennis proposed a deal. "The time seems to be right now. Do you want to cement a Final 2 deal?" Eric was caught off guard, and said no, but told Dennis not to take any offense. "I wouldn't make a Final 2 deal with anybody now." Dennis rebutted, "But you wanted to before." Eric said, "Wait until we merge. I'll ask you when I'm ready. Don't take it the wrong way. I'm not going to vote for you."

Dennis said later in a confessional, "Eric rejected my Final 2 offer so at this time I don't really trust him. I will try to win immunity because if Tuareg goes to Tribal Council, anybody, and I mean anybody, can go. It's game on for me. I will treat everybody the same and won't favor Eric anymore than the rest since my trust for him went down."

Day 21

Dennis saw Sahara was awake bright and early on Day 21. He sat down next to her on a log and started talking. Dennis was still feeling edgy and after a while, he started asking Sahara question after question. "Remember yesterday when you first arrived? What did Jenni mean when she said 'sometimes the boys don't get it'?" Sahara said, "I guess girl stuff. Nothing specific."

They then started talking about the challenge and how stressful it would be. Sahara said she didn't like getting stressed out about the game. Dennis asked Sahara how she relieved stress and she said that she did it through shopping, exercising, talking, music, and cleaning. Dennis said, "I play soccer to relieve stress. Soccer is the best medicine for me."

He then complimented her and told her, "You have the upper hand in the game because you are the only one that knows where everybody stands. You are in a good position in the game." He then added jokingly, "I think we can go all the way, all the way to the jury, that is. I hope to get a nice warm seat. Hopefully, the jury will have some comfortable chairs for us and not rocks." Dennis continued joking around by asking, "Do you hear that sound?" Sahara replied no. Dennis said, "It's the sound of jury duty calling me." Sahara just smiled and didn't say anything.

Eric woke up and stretched his legs. Dennis got up off the log and went over to talk to Eric. Dennis and Eric whispered about Sahara. They were going to approach Sahara about a deal they had made to win immunity and save her. Eric said, "Make it look like we aren't that close!" Dennis agreed and said, "Right. The important thing is to make sure that Sahara doesn't realize that we are aligned." Then, they argued about who should tell her.

Dennis finally approached her and asked Sahara a question that made her think. "Would you like to be in the Final Four?" Sahara liked the idea of making it that far in the game. Dennis then asked her, "Would you like me to be in the Final Four with you and two other people? Because all we have to do is get rid of people." Sahara said, "That could be nice."

He then asked what her chances were with Fulani. "Do you think they will carry you to the Final Four or drop you when you're no more useful? Because it sounds like Tim, Wade and Ryan are in this together and everybody else is being played. Open your eyes." Sahara thought Dennis was calling her stupid, but he didn't mean it that way. They started to argue, but Dennis said, "You are my friend and friends don't think that friends are stupid."

He then told her the offer that he had discussed with Eric earlier. "I was talking to Eric and we agreed that we'll win today's challenge but only if you pledge to stick with us when we merge." Sahara didn't know what to say or how to respond. Dennis would make sure Tuareg won immunity, but only if Sahara helped Dennis with an alliance once the tribes merged.

Dennis said, "Let's just say that you are in a three member alliance. If I help you make the merge and you enlist me in your alliance, then we would get rid of everybody else and we would be the Final 4." He said that assuming Tuareg won and Justin would get voted off at Tribal Council, Dennis would target Jasmine first. "And then we'll go for Jenni. And then we'll go for Wade. And then we'll go for Eric. And then we'll go for Tim. That would leave you, Angela, Ryan and me as the Final Four. Then we get Angela to side with us to vote off Ryan. After that, I win immunity and take you to the Final Two. Do you like that scenario?"

Dennis said that if the members of Fulani got rid of Tuareg in the first three votes, "there are still two Fulanis that won't make the Final 4. And those two will probably be stabbed in the back." Dennis said that Sahara would have to watch her own back if she went with Fulani. Dennis said, "I have nothing to lose. That's why I am a good ally for you and you are the first Fulani I've ever talked to so that gives you the upper hand on my loyalty."

Sahara said she did want to stay in the game and going with Dennis and the rest of Tuareg seemed like the only opportunity. Sahara finally told Dennis that she'd leave it as a possibility. He patted her on the back and said, "I think you make the right moves and think things through."

Dennis said that they'd have to be very careful about talking to Fulani once they merged. He ended by saying, "We made a deal. Now you are in an alliance with me, Eric and Jenni and it's probably bye bye, Justin!" But Dennis added, "I do feel sorry for him. He was a good guy, but I bet Justin is pissing in his pants because he thinks he is next in Fulani." Though assuming Justin got voted out, Eric was worried if Sahara could be trusted. "My fate is in Sahara," he said. Sahara said in a confessional, "Now they said they would only win the challenge if I agreed to vote with them. This game is going to get interesting."

As Tuareg walked off to the challenge, Dennis exclaimed to Tuareg, "We will win the next challenge! That's a promise!" Dennis said it was crucial for their survival to win this Immunity Challenge. "Fulani will drop us like a bad habit without even giving us the smallest of a chance." Jennifer replied, "I have no plans on a Fulani member beating us."

The new Fulani and Tuareg tribes met each other at Challenge Dunes under an acacia tree. Sahara waved to her old Fulani tribe and Justin acknowledged his old Tuareg tribe. Mr. Moderator spoke, "Welcome, Tuareg and Fulani, to the Immunity Challenge. Here's your chance to see your old tribemate. But this is also a chance to see how your new teammate will do in today's challenge."

"I hope your team has had enough time to bond before this Immunity Challenge, which is a classic who-done-it mystery. It's called 'Cops and Robbers.' This is still a tribal challenge, not individual. The basic premise is that the opposing team has stolen your luxury items. And your tribe has stolen their luxury items as well. I've assigned each of you to be held responsible for a luxury item belonging to an opposing tribemate. Your goal is to find out who stole your luxury item."

"So, the first tribe will get one chance to accuse somebody on the other tribe. If they get it right, the person has to hand over the luxury item to the one who guessed correctly. If the tribe member accuses the wrong person, then the next tribe gets a chance to accuse somebody on your tribe. You can't guess twice in a row. It alternates. Once all players from a tribe get their items back, and if they're the first ones to do so, they win the immunity idol and don't have to go to Tribal Council, but the losers will vote out a member of their own tribe. Well, let's start. Fulani, since you have two extra members, you must sit two out." Fulani decided to sit out Jasmine and Angela for this challenge and the other four would compete.

Mr. Moderator then gave each castaway a luxury item in secret. For the Fulani Tribe, Justin was responsible for Dennis's item, a soccer ball. Tim was responsible for Sahara's massage oils. Wade was responsible for Eric's football. And Ryan was responsible for Jennifer's luxury item, a sewing and fabric kit. For Tuareg, Dennis was responsible for Tim's item, a Survivor trading card game. Sahara was responsible for Wade's deck of cards. Eric was responsible for Ryan's journal and pen and Jennifer had "stolen" Justin's luxury item, a guitar.

Dennis said, "Let's do this guys! There is nothing stopping us!" To determine who would go first, the host flipped a coin. Tuareg won the coin toss and Eric asked Justin if he had his football to start off the challenge. Justin replied, "No!" Then it was Fulani's turn. Ryan asked Sahara if she stole his luxury item, but she said it wasn't her. After that, Eric asked Ryan, but Ryan said no. Wade asked Jenni for his luxury item, but she didn't have it either. Then Jennifer asked Justin for her item, but Justin said, "Sorry, I don't have it." Justin then asked Sahara next, but she said no.

On the next question, Eric asked Wade and Wade admitted he was the thief. He handed Eric his football. But Ryan evened the score for Fulani when he asked Eric for his journal and pen. Eric had it and gave it back to Ryan. Next, Dennis asked Ryan, but Ryan answered no. Tim asked Jenni for his luxury item, but she was not the thief. Sahara asked Ryan and he answered no and Justin was disappointed when Dennis said that he didn't have Justin's luxury item.

Dennis turned the tables on Justin and Justin admitted that he had indeed "stolen" Dennis's soccer ball. After that, Wade asked Dennis, but Dennis didn't have Wade's cards. And Wade didn't have Jennifer's sewing kit, either. Then, Justin asked Jenni for his guitar and she said yes. The score was tied again 2-2. But Sahara made the score 3-2 when she asked Tim for her massage oils. Tim handed them over reluctantly. Tim asked Eric for his trading cards, but Eric said he didn't have them. All Tuareg needed was one more. Jenni was still missing her luxury item. She asked Ryan and Ryan admitted he was the thief. He handed Jennifer her sewing kit and the host handed her the immunity idol. Tuareg had won immunity and was safe for another three days.

Tuareg headed back feeling on top of the world because they had won the immunity idol. Dennis held it over his head as they entered Taureg. Dennis said to his team, "It looks like we have this one in the bag." Sahara said, "I would have done anything to win."

But Jennifer didn't seem as enthusiastic about the victory. She rolled her eyes as she said, "Yea, good job!" When Jennifer thought she saw where the game was heading, she decided to build her own camp and live there by herself. Sahara took offense to that and said, "I'm sorry you're not happy, Jennifer. I thought I was a member of your tribe." Jennifer explained that she was unhappy because her friend, Justin, was probably going to get voted out over at Fulani. She knew that Justin would be a big threat at Tribal Council. But she said that she was very happy to have Sahara in his place. She apologized profusely and Dennis, who had overheard the fight, said, "I'll just pretend like you never said anything, Jenni." He smiled.

Dennis asked Sahara privately what she thought of Jennifer's behavior. Sahara said, "I didn't appreciate it." Dennis replied, "As far as I know, you are a Tuareg too." Dennis said he felt sorry if Justin got voted out because he tried so hard in the challenge." He also added, "You weren't the next to go if you ask me. I don't like to throw challenges."

While Dennis talked to Sahara, Eric went to see how Jennifer was holding up. He said, "Look, Jenni, I'm sorry Justin is going to go, but you still are here, and the four of us here are going to stay together. So don't worry so much. Justin might not even go." Jennifer nearly "collapsed at the thought of seeing her pal, Justin, gone."

Eric then changed the subject to talk about his relationship with Jenni. Eric asked Jenni, "You don't trust me, do you?" Jennifer answered, "I have my doubts, but I really want to trust you. I have no plans to give up on you!" But Jennifer wanted to know if Eric planned on staying with Tuareg. Eric said, "I can't win this game with the other tribe." Jenni said Eric was a good strategist. Eric cheered up Jenni and told her "Justin isn't gone yet. I doubt they'll get rid of him."

After deciding that building her own hut was going to be too hard, she decided to stay at the main Tuareg camp and help fix the shelter and offered to help anybody who needed it. She was much friendlier that night around the fire, talking and laughing. Although, Jennifer was still sad on the inside without Justin at camp. She said she would miss Justin, but hoped that "maybe someday all four will be back together."

Back outside Ghat, Fulani was preparing for Tribal Council. Angela said, "Well, I am sorry to say that I am voting out Justin tonight. It is unfair that he never really got a chance to stick around because he seems like a great guy."

Justin cornered Wade and asked, "Am I safe at this Tribal Council?" Wade said, "I don't think so. I couldn't change anyone's mind. Angela said that it would be a better strategic decision if Tim stayed." Justin had lost hope, but Wade had a suggestion. "If you want a tie, vote Tim, and try and get Jasmine to vote Tim. But don't tell anyone I'm telling you this, okay?" Justin then asked Wade about the Immunity Challenge. "Can I ask you something and get a straight answer from you? Did you guys throw the Immunity Challenge to save Sahara?" Wade admitted they did.

As Jasmine was organizing her belongings, Justin approached her and asked, "Who are you voting for?" Jasmine said, "I think I might be going this round." Justin said, "Listen, you're not going, but they do want you gone eventually. Will you vote for Tim with me?" Jasmine said she would. Justin said, "I really need your help tonight. I'll try to help you more if we make the merge. Do we have a deal?" Jasmine said yes. Justin added, "You can get farther in this game if you vote with me than what Fulani has planned for you."

As Fulani walked across the rope bridge into Tribal Council, Mr. Moderator said, "Fulani! Fulani! Fulani! Welcome to Tribal Council. This is a new Fulani tribe minus Sahara, plus Justin. Light your torches and have a seat. We have a lot to talk about. It's been an exciting turn of events. You know the drill. I ask you a few questions and then you will make the important decision of who to vote out tonight. Tonight's Tribal Council is crucial because if you survive tonight, you at least get a spot on the jury that will decide between the Final 2 contestants who should win the title of Ultimate Survivor. Okay, well let's start. First question goes to...Ryan. Are you nervous about tonight's vote?"

Ryan answered, "I am always nervous about the vote. You never know how things will go. I don't really feel confident or vulnerable. I just hope that I can make it past the Tribal Council."

"Justin, when you first arrived at this new tribe, did you feel like the odd man out?" Justin said he did and Mr. Moderator asked, "Do you still feel that way or do you truly feel like a member of this team?"

Justin said, "I felt like the odd man out since the second I got here and guess what? That feeling hasn't changed a bit. I haven't once felt accepted. They see me as an easy target. The challenge was thrown, and Tuareg could have done the same thing, but it wouldn't be fair. However, look where playing fair gets me. At least I can walk out of this and say I was a competitor and that I still have class."

"Wade, what would you do if you were in Justin's position? How would you deal with being traded to a different tribe?"

Wade said, "I'd just try and find cracks in the group, or try as hard as possible to win immunity for my tribe."

"Jasmine, do you think old tribal lines still exist in your new tribe? Or do you feel there is any type of division in this tribe?"

Jasmine said, "I don't think that the tribe is split anymore than it was before. I think that it is pretty much the same except we lost one of our greatest members, Sahara. I know we all miss her because I certainly do. But I also think that the fact we have a new member is a very good thing because you never know what the future could bring for us with this new guy."

"Okay, one last question. This one is for everybody. Does anybody feel confident that they can survive tonight's vote? And on the other hand, does anybody feel vulnerable?" Angela said, "You never know what other people may be planning when you are out getting water." Wade said, "You can never feel confident at Tribal Council. Well, at least I never do. You just have to hope for the best."

Justin said that he felt very vulnerable. "I can guarantee there are votes coming my way simply because I was a Tuareg. But I don't think it's fair. I've done nothing but work my butt off this entire game. I think the people voting for me are making the wrong decision, and in fact I think it's cowardly. Why don't you try to compete, instead of taking the easy way out?"

"Okay, it's time to vote. Justin, you're up first." Justin wrote down Tim in large block letters. He said to the camera, "Sorry man, but voting for you is my only chance to stick around." Wade voted next and said, "I think you deserve to go further, but there's not much I can do. See you on the flip side." After Angela voted, Tim voted, followed by Ryan. Jasmine voted last and said, "My vote is for Tim because Justin asked me to vote for him and I am thanking him for opening my eyes and making me realize that we still have a game to play. It's not over yet and I plan to prove that."

"Okay, I'll read the votes," Mr. Moderator said. "The person with the most votes will be asked to leave the Tribal Council area immediately. Here we go: 1st vote: Justin. 2nd vote: Justin. 3rd vote: Tim. 4th vote: Tim. That's two for Justin and two for Tim. 5th vote: Justin. And last vote: Tim. Well, look at that. We have a tie. Here's how we settle a tie. We go by previous votes cast at earlier Tribal Councils. Previous votes will be added to tonight's vote. So, Justin, from my records, you have two votes cast against you previously. And Tim, you have three votes from a previous Tribal Council. Since Tim has more votes than Justin does, I need for Tim to bring me his torch. The tribe has spoken. It's time for you to go." Tim brought Mr. Moderator his torch and the host snuffed it. Tim smiled and wished his team good luck as he walked out of Tribal Council.

"As for the rest of you...congratulations are in order. You've made it this far in the game and you're at least guaranteed a spot on the jury and even better, you're that much closer to winning the game. Also, I have additional good news for you. As of tomorrow, both tribes, Tuareg and Fulani, will merge into one brand new tribe. This is no joke. So, I'll see you tomorrow as a brand new tribe. You can head back to camp." Fulani took their torches and headed back to camp, excited for the merge tomorrow.

Next Time on Survivor Sahara:

  • The game changes once again as a new tribe is formed and the tribes say goodbye to Tuareg and Fulani and hello to Burkina. Dennis: "I had a lot of fun at Tuareg and I am looking forward to life at Burkina."
  • As a new tribe is born, so are alliances. Angela: "With new people, could come new alliances."
  • And a tribemate celebrates a birthday. Justin: "When's the party?"
  • The nine remaining contestants compete in their first individual challenge, which guarantees one of them immunity and three more days in the Sahara.
  • And at Tribal Council, it's a unanimous decision.
